Senior Project Manager Job Description
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business units. Manage resources, schedules, financials and adhere to stage gate quality and SDLC control guidelines throughout the full systems development life cycle. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.
The Senior Project Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis. Verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.
Responsibilities:
- Become an expert in Implementation Methodology and use it in all engagements.
- Demonstrate competency in the product suite.
- Project manage multiple, concurrent project implementations ensuring projects are properly planned and staffed.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to the Professional Service resources assigned to work on the implementations.
- Manage and motivate team members to achieve business goals.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with customer executive sponsors, project managers and implementation teams.
- Document goals and accomplishments for each customer.
- Add to the Professional Services best practices standards via templates and reference documents.
- Work with the client project manager to identify/resolve all issues that could impact project scope and/or timeframes.
- Work with PMO to ensure compliance with agreed to project checkpoints.
- Present at Executive Steering Committee meetings.
- Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
- Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings
Requirements:
- Minimum education: BS degree, technical discipline preferred (MIS, CompSci) or MBA with technical focus.
- 10+ years of project management experience with the majority focused on enterprise application implementation and deployment with executive customer relationships.
- Proven experience with large and complex enterprise implementations.
- Professional Services experience in software product company.
- Consulting experience either as an internal consultant or with a consulting/software company.
- Must be highly articulate, energetic and accountable.
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
- Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
- Support diverse and inclusive work environment
- Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives
